Our History
Infinite Possibilities was founded by Christy Mellinger in April of 2002. Throughout her years of work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the mental health and substance abuse field, Christy saw many children and families falling through the cracks and getting lost in the system. In many cases, the individual and families struggling with the most complex mental health needs had extremely limited access to impactful mental health treatment. Many of these families were also struggling with painful challenges like substance abuse, domestic violence, poverty, chronic mental health conditions, and many other obstacles.
Motivated by empathy, compassion, and an overwhelming love for children, Christy founded Infinite Possibilities Counseling Service to address the myriad of unmet behavioral health and family support needs of families in desperate situations throughout the state of Georgia. “I drug my mom out of retirement and started with small, underserved areas of Georgia.”. In April of and 2002, Christy and her mother, a retired social services worker, began building, the little company that could…
Almost 20 years later, Infinite Possibilities is a thriving organization with a dynamic and diverse team of Counselors, Assessors, and Caregivers located all over the state of Georgia. While underserved areas hold a special place in Christy’s heart, when confronted by the overwhelming need of Georgia’s most vulnerable families, Christy determined “where there is need, we will go.” And so, we did. We have a presence in every region in the state and strive to make certain that the families of Georgia have access to the highest quality of care.

Assessors
Our assessment team is staffed by a group of highly qualified and experienced mental health clinicians and clinical social workers. Our assessment team works to create unique client-focused recommendations that help promote positive change and build stronger families. Every assessor is trained in utilizing evidence based assessment materials and determining which assessment tools are most appropriate for each client so that we can construct meaningful, comprehensive evaluations of individual and family functioning.
Counselors
Our team of counselors consists of an exemplary group of licensed, experienced counseling professionals offering mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults in individual, couple, and family settings. Our goal is to assist people who are experiencing emotional or behavioral concerns and are looking to make life changing decisions that will help to bring about a renewed sense of purpose and vision. Our counselors are trained in the fields of psychology, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, and social work. Our counselors also hold certifications in a wide variety of practice models. The broad extent of our therapists' training and experience allows us to offer a wide range of services to our clients.
Social Workers
Our Social Workers implement strength-based interventions. We work with our clients to find out what natural skills and talents they possess that can be used to address issues causing difficulties in their lives. Our framework is holistic and takes into account not only the client’s emotional and psychological makeup, but also societal and environmental factors that can impact well-being.
Parenting Educators
Our Parent Educators work to help parents understand the different stages of child development and how to appropriately respond to their child’s needs while considering the child’s age and stage of development. Our Parent Educators are skilled at teaching parents how to use effective discipline and behavior management strategies. We help parents go beyond a basic understanding of discipline and learn to respond to their children in empowering ways that teach children to make positive choices and good decisions.
Family Support Workers
Family support workers work in a variety of capacities in assisting at-risk children and families. This may include helping to identify and access appropriate community social services and helping families get back on their feet following periods of unemployment, emotional, mental or physical crisis or financial distress.
Behavior Aids
Behavioral aides work closely under the supervision of our clinical team to implement behavior intervention plans for children in and out of the home. Behavior Aids provide support to parents and/or foster parents of children with behavioral challenges that require more intensive intervention than basic parenting strategies.
